The Everybody Dance Now (EDN) programme seeks to find a creative, artist-led solution to the challenge of delivering sustained audience engagement alongside touring work. When companies, especially international ones, are touring nationally they are in any one location only briefly and so lack the time and capacity to build strong and lasting relationships within communities.
EDN seeks to address this by developing a group of locally based artists who will deliver grass-roots participatory work around tours and so build strong relationships within communities. This will enable DTP to develop a presence in 12 areas across the country with priority given to those where engagement with the arts is low. The programme will complement DTP’s wider audience development strategy by offering discounted tickets to Everybody Dance Now participants and their friends and families.
EDN will pilot and develop a new artist-led approach to audience engagement, which builds and consolidates relationships with local communities. It will address participants’ needs as well as offering unique CPD opportunities to the artists involved. There are plans for four programmes of activity Summer 2013 – Spring 2015
- To deliver quality participatory dance work with local communities
- To create experiences that increase participants’ understanding and appreciation of the work that DTP will tour
- To offer dance artists high-quality, sustained and well-supported CPD opportunities
- To engage wider communities through targeting of friends, family, associates of participants with ticket offers/deals
